This cloth in the shape of a T comes from the 7th century. The patterns found in kimono's fabrics are considered a good summary of the Japanese tradition. Each pattern delivers an indication about the social status, age, sex, virtues, aspiration of the wearer. This art is still very much alive in modern Japan.
